CAMOUFLAGE
3 month residency begins with RESIDENCY UNLIMITED
Residency Unlimited (RU) supports the creation, presentation and dissemination of contemporary art through its unique residency program and year-round public programs. We forge strategic partnerships with collaborating institutions to offer customized residencies designed to meet the individual needs of participating artists and curators. Residents benefit from our diverse network of partners, which allows for flexibility, customization and access to a wide range of services and resources including but not limited to studio/workspaces. We facilitate connections in and outside the art world, offer hands-on production and technical assistance, and professional development opportunities. Dialogue and exchange happen through talks and other public programs, which take place at our Brooklyn location: a creative hub for our expanding community of artists, curators, partners, collaborators, and international visitors. We work together with our residents and partners to develop a residency experience that optimizes opportunities while meeting the goals, needs and visions of participating artists and curators. Residencies may focus on research and dialogue rather than on traditional production formats. In addition, to the local New York-based residencies, we offer national and international exchanges, and year-round public programs which cover a broad range of topics at the forefront of contemporary art practice and critical discourse.

EUROPE 14|14 POSTER WINS
Happy to announce that the poster designed for the Europe 14|14 competition has won the second and final round of voting. As 2014 marks the centennial commemoration of the onset of WWI, the poster conveys the significance of the war and its legacy for modern Europe. I arrived at the image of a galloping Pegasus rendered in the form of a cage housing a bird yearning to arise from its past, stronger and more vibrant than before.
LOST IDENTITY
The studio is proud to present our newest collaboration with GREY AREA. Lost Identity is a body of work consisting of silver nitrate treated glass panels mounted in fire treated antique frames. These objects, with their smokily obscured surfaces and deteriorating frames, serve as sites for the exploration of personal identity, and how it coalesces and transforms.
This past week, GREY AREA hosted a wonderful holiday party to launch their new showroom FORT GREY, where the series is currently on view. For more information click here.
GERTRUDE SALON
This past month, we worked with curator Gaelle Porte to host an event at our studio with Gertrude, a group dedicated to facilitating dialogue in intimate settings between artists, collectors, and the interested public. Founded in December 2012, Gertrude seeks to build upon the legacy of their namesake Gertrude Stein, creating a network of art lovers, and re-imagining salon-style viewing for the 21st century.
The visit sparked a great conversation, and we were very happy to host such a great group of guests. To read more about the studio visit and other Gertrude events, click here.
метаморфоза
Following our successful endeavors with 365, we have embarked on yet another daily drawing series, entitled метаморфоза. We invite you to keep up with the exciting daily developments of метаморфоза on Daniel's Tumblr, or check out the weekly updates on the Huffington Post Art Blog.
365
After being first exhibited in its entirety at The Invisible Dog Art Center in 2012, the Drawing a Day series 365 has been on the move. This past year, 365 was featured in part at numerous gallery and museum shows around the world - including an exhibition at Christie's New York curated by Y&S, as a part of the 6th annual Illustrative Festival at the Direktorenhaus in Berlin, and is currently on exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw.
We were particularly honored by our inclusion in the Warsaw show. Having spent several formative years there studying under the masters of the Polish graphic design school, Daniel maintains a strong connection to the city, its culture, and the visual legacy of his mentors. To have our work shown there truly brings us full circle.
We published a book collection of the works from 365, which was featured at Galerie Perrotin in Paris and Printed Matter in New York. The book is available for purchase here.
